ABOUT THE COURSES:

Engineering - STAMP/Space

Introduction to  Engineering Design and Presentation (IED) - 1 Credit

IED includes the knowledge of the design, techniques, and tools related to the production of drawings for engineering applications.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 9th grade. However, If not taken in the 9th grade it must be the first course in the students SPACE/STEM pathway (Grades 9th-12th)

Principals of Engineering  - 1 Credit

Students explore a broad range of engineering topics including mechanisms, strength of structure and materials, and automation, and then they apply what they know to take on challenges like designing a self-powered car.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 10th grade. If not taken in the 10th grade it must be the second course in the students SPACE/STEM pathway (Grades 10th-12th)

Aerospace Engineering - 1 Credit

Students explore the physics of flight and bring what they’re learning to life through hands-on projects like designing a glider and creating a program for an autonomous space rover.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 11th grade. If not taken in the 11th grade it must be the 3rd course in the students SPACE/STEM pathway (Grades 11th-12th)

Engineering Design and Development  - 1 Credit

Students identify a real-world challenge and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their unique solutions to a panel of engineers.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 11th grade. If not taken in the 11th grade it must be the 3rd course in the students SPACE/STEM pathway (Grades 11th-12th)

Architecture

Principles of Architecture - 1 Credit

Principles of Architecture provides an overview to the various fields of architecture, interior design, and construction management. Achieving proficiency in decision making and problem solving is an essential skill for career planning and lifelong learning.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 9th grade. However, If not taken in the 9th grade it must be the first course in the students Architecture pathway (Grades 9th-12th)

Architectural Design - 2 Credits

Architectural Design I includes the knowledge of the design, techniques, and tools related to the production of drawings for architectural purposes.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 10th grade. If not taken in the 10th grade it must be the second course in the students Architecture pathway (Grades 10th-12th)

Architectural Design I  - 2 Credits

Architectural Design II includes the advanced knowledge of the design, design history, techniques, and tools related to the production of drawings, renderings, and scaled models for nonresidential or residential architectural purposes

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 11th grade. If not taken in the 11th grade it must be the 3rd course in the students Architecture pathway (Grades 11th-12th)

Practicum of Architecture -  2 Credits

Practicum in Architectural Design is an occupationally specific course designed to provide technical instruction in architectural design. Safety and career opportunities are included in addition to work ethics and architectural design study.

  • The courses in this category may be offered in 12th grade. If not taken in the 12th grade it must be the 4th course in the students Architecture pathway (Grades 11th-12th)
